What use is all one has learned, if one does not worship the sacred feet of the One of pure knowledge?

தஞ்சு மவன்கற்ற நூல்.

However much they have studied, those who cannot make good ideas reach a good assembly effectively bring no benefit to the world.

பல்லவை கற்றும் பயமிலரே நல்லவையு
ணன்கு செலச்சொல்லா தார்.

As a fine book yields fresh delight each time it is studied, friendship with people of good character grows more rewarding with every closer acquaintance.

நவிறொறு நூனயம் போலும் பயிறொறும்
பண்புடை யாளர் தொடர்பு.

Even after learning many good teachings, those who continue to choose hostility rarely become good-hearted through learning alone.

பலநல்ல கற்றக் கடைத்து மனநல்ல
ராகுதன் மாணார்க் கரிது.

Though one may oppose those who plough with the bow, one should not make enemies of those who plough with words.
