A chapter about being talked about. The lovers have been noticed, the town has begun to say their names together, and the expected feeling — shame — does not arrive.
Kural 1141 opens with the man saying that his life holds together only because the rumour rose; and he counts it good fortune that most people do not understand what the talk is doing for him. In 1142 he says the town, not knowing how hard she is to win, has handed her to him cheaply by talking.
