How to read the romanization
ā · ī · ū · ē · ō — hold these vowels longer than a, i, u, e, o.
ḻ (ழ) — a distinctive curled Tamil sound, often written “zh”.
ṟ (ற) — a crisp Tamil alveolar sound; doubled ṟṟ is held more strongly.
ṉ (ன்) — the lighter n heard at the end of words such as pakavaṉ.

The opening phrase quotes the judgement of difficulty. The next phrase forbids sinking under that judgement. The final clause explains why: effort itself develops the power suited to completion.

One should not lose heart saying, ‘This undertaking is difficult,’ because effort gives the capacity suited to it.

Do not give up inwardly because a task is hard. Effort grows the ability needed to complete it.
Grammar that unlocks the line
‘அருமை உடைத்து என்று’ என்பது ஒருவர் மனத்தில் சொல்லிக்கொள்ளும் காரணம். அதையே ‘அசாவாமை வேண்டும்’ மறுக்கிறது.
அருமை உடைத்து என்று supplies the discouraging thought; அசாவாமை வேண்டும் rejects the response of losing heart.
இரண்டாம் அடியில் ‘முயற்சி பெருமை தரும்’ என்பதே முதல் அடியின் அறிவுரைக்குக் காரணமாக நிற்கிறது.
The second line gives the reason for the first line's instruction: effort produces the needed capacity.
